I've been writing since before I knew what writing was. Today I do it with more method and less hurry — and still, always with some startle.

This place is my open work table. Nothing here is finished. Almost everything is being polished out loud.

If you'd like to come in, come in slowly. Take off your shoes. Sit in the chair closest to the window.
